Intraday Trading on KBUNAI & GENM-CL

1. I got strike twice today, first it was Kbunai that hit 22sen in the morning and gotten rid of it in the afternoon session at 22.5sen. Then hit on GENM-CL again at 14.5sen and just lucky/managed to dispose off at 15sen right before it turn to pre open/close market time. :) Lucky me. :) but don't try this at home you might get yourself burn.....badly i mean. By the way Morgan Stanley has rating cut on GENM, may have some selling force tomorrow....!?

2. Just bought a wireless modem router to replace the home single LAN port unit. As i am currently having 2 units of notebooks and 2 units of PCs, just not enough to serve them all. Cost me RM100 for that. :)

3. My friend offer me a 13 years old car Peugeot after knowing that i intend to get a second hand car but what the hack !! already having a 13 years old junk still offer me to get another junk ???

4. Just received my GENTING dividend, again a very very insignificant amount. :)

Attractive’ prices for hybrid cars next year, says MAA

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) expects prices of hybrid cars will be more attractive next year to boost sales after Budget 2011 announcement of full excise duty exemptions on hybrid cars below 2,000cc until Dec 31, 2011.

President Datuk Aishah Ahmad said hybrid cars in Malaysia were currently not cheap, resulting in fewer than 300 such cars sold.

“The price will definitely come down by next year. At the moment, the industry players (those involved in producing hybrid cars) are doing the price calculation after the budget announcement,” she told reporters yesterday after the launch of advertising and promotion of Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2010 (KLIMS’10) by Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen.

The removal of excise duties for hybrid cars means that the price tags for vehicles such as Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd’s Honda Civic Hybrid and UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd’s Toyota Prius could be slashed drastically.

It is estimated that the Honda Civic Hybrid and Toyota Prius, now costing RM129,000 and RM175,000 respectively, would have a new price tag of RM100,980 and RM128,046 correspondingly following the excise duty exemption.

Lets compared the effective cost of owing a new hybrid car (Honda Civic RM 100k) and your second hand car (Honda City, 5yr, 60k)

1. lets assuming lifespan for car is 15yr to be consider as junk car and the depreciate value for Honda Civic is at 6.6k/yr, while Honda City is at 6k/yr (15yr-5yr old second hand), just higher by 10%

2. Lets assuming fuel saving for hybrid car is 40% cheaper than normal car: Monthly fuel consumption RM 400 x 12month x 0.4 = Yearly saving about RM 2k! already much more superior than second hand car

3. Honda Civic Hybrid car have bigger engine capacity than City (1.8l vs. 1.5L),thus more powerful.

4 Interest rate for new car loan is much cheaper than second hand (1.99%-2.75% vs. 4.55%-
4.75), as the interest rate is counted upfront, the actual interest cost is almost the same. Lets assuming both have 90% loan: RM 90k x 2.5% /5yr = 11k vs. RM 55k x 4.5% /5yr =12k)

5. Other benefit are new car come with 3 free maintainance (and warranty. Honda Civic is class C segment compared with Hinda City class B segment, thus more spacious, comfort and higher class.
